Easter 2013

Easter this year seemed to sneak up on me and fly by so fast! I don’t think I got my Easter decorations out until the week before and now I’ve gotta pack it up and pull out summer as I’m sure it is approaching fast too!  About 10 days before Easter this year, I saw a friend on Facebook post about Storm Chasers who were predicting that a storm that was hovering in the Alaska Gulf was projected to be in the Dallas area precisely on Easter.  I think we all know that forecasting that far in advance usually results in them being wrong, but they said that based on the pattern of cold fronts and various other meteorological terms and conditions, we would see a rain out.

Last year, I got baby chicks and envisioned them running around the backyard with the kids as they were hunting for Easter eggs.  Last year it was a bit chilly and overcast and actually rained later in the day.  The chicks were anything but excited to run around the backyard, in fact the were huddled up in a corner trying to keep warm.  This year, I didn’t want to buy them knowing that it would be nasty outside.  I am glad I didn’t.  Maybe next year.

So this year started the day before Easter.  We have new neighbors with 2 daughters who are around my kids age.  I invited them to come over to decorate eggs with us.  We started with 3 dozen and ended up with 2 dozen after all of the accidental cracking and dropping and smashing.  It was fun!
Our 2nd annual Easter involved the family coming to our house after church and having a brunch together.  Since it did in fact rain and leave the backyard in puddles of mud, all of the Grandparents hid the eggs around the house.  Pardon the pictures as there was so much excitement that many of them are fuzzy.

My attempts of getting a family shot—near impossible for everyone to look in the same direction at the same time.

It is very unlike me to not have staged groups put together for a picture- so I feel sortof disorganized with our candid shots, but I guess it gives you an idea of how the Easter morning/brunch went.  We finished off our brunch with this sassy bunny peep cake!! I loved how it turned out.  I sent my cake friend/baker a picture I drew of a cake that I wanted and she made it happen! I love her!!

Hope you all had a Happy Easter!!

Looks like everyone had a great time!! The cake looks yummy and I'm going to be honest, the candid shots are always the best ;-) shows the fun and life going on (I also say this because I too can never get my kids to look in the same direction at the same time)

Maybe next year you'll get a warm enough day for baby chicks! You probably saved yourself a lot of time this year not getting them - remember how much trouble it is to keep them happy? :o)

Happy Easter, sweetie! Lovely pictures. Looks like ya'll had a great time with family!
