12 Days of Christmas!

Well friends, today marks not only the 1st of December but also a 12 day count down until I return to work and say goodbye to my days at home on maternity leave with my newest baby Rayne.  <sniff>  Since I have 12 days until I return, I figured I’d use these as my 12 days of Christmas because once I start back to work, my free time to get things done will be obsolete.

DAY 1:  Christmas Family Traditions (My top 3)

Every year we go and see Santa and get an updated picture and share our wish list.  I think what makes this so special is that the Santa you see in the photo is the same Santa EVERY year.  He really looks the part and this might sound crazy but he seems young enough that he might last through my kids childhood to be the Santa they see year after year!  Fingers crossed!  This place is pretty neat because you log in online to “get in line” and it will text you where you are in line so that you don’t have to stand out in the cold.  Last year I logged in from home, had time to drive there and walk right in! I love technology!
IMG_1145I am a bit of a Hallmark junkie.  When Erik and I first met and started dating, I had started collecting Hallmark ornaments.  Ever since our first Christmas together, we have given each other an ornament each year in our stockings.  When we started having children, we passed this on to them too!  Every year they will get 1 new ornament to add to their collection.  I keep their ornaments separate for storage in the hopes that when they grow up, they will have a bin full of memories and enough ornaments to get their first tree started when they begin their families. Above is just a small glimpse of my collection! I can’t help but keep the boxes they came in which is a slight pain when putting them up and taking them down but I still love them! Below is an example of the storage I use for each kiddo!
IMG_1147 IMG_1150 IMG_1155I LOVE Christmas cards!! I love sending them and receiving them!  Its the most fun thing of the entire year!! It makes checking the mail so exciting!! I have yet to throw any of them away that contain family pictures on them because it is so fun to go back and see how my friends and family have changed over the years.  I take this very seriously.  I order enough cards to send out to everyone I know including the President of the United States and even our former President George W.  I have ours on order and I can’t wait to get them out in the mail and once I send them out, I’ve got a Christmas video to share of all our family pictures!! So exciting!!!

What are your traditions!?

This post made me so happy!! You seriously know how to make Christmas special, don't you? :o) And that is the coolest thing that your Santa doesn't make you wait in line!! When Lex was little, by the time she made it to Santa, she was in a bad mood because we'd made her stand still for 30 minutes!!

I just LOVE getting Christmas cards, too. Last year was the only year since we've been married that I didn't send them out and I hated it! I am *almost* done with ours for this year and I'm so happy they're going to make it out in time!

I love all the little Christmas traditions that make this time of year so special! I can't wait to have kids to take to see Santa! :)

Christmas cards are the BEST - it's about the only time of year I get fun mail!! I love seeing all the pictures of my friends and their little families. :)

I can't believe you have to go back to work alreayd - it seems like Rayne was just born! Up here, most women get a year off when they have a baby. I think I'd need at LEAST that!!!

Sounds like you have the best Santa. Our kids write letters to him but we have never actually taken them to see him- kind of sad. We started our advent calendars today.

Those are some wonderful traditions. I really should start the ornament one for my kids. I really love that idea.

Great idea for a post! You have some amazing holiday traditions. I love the ornament idea, I might just have to put a bug in my hubby's ear!

Luckily our Santa is indoors so we don't have to wait out in the cold.. But that is so awesome that you can check in online!

I also keep all of our Christmas cards with pictures!

I LOVE this time of year. One tradition I had growing up was that each year in our stockings we got a lifesaver candy book and a giant peppermint stick. I love those little lifesaver books. After my mom passed away, my sister and I gave them to each other and we both buy the gummy ones for the kids.

In our little family, we get a new ornament each year too!

Love this post....

We only have one. We always put the tree up together... with Christmas music or some Christmas movie going in the backgrounds. We sip on some hot chocolate during.

Looking forward to your 12 days of Christmas... YAY!
