In Shape & out of style

Linking up with some blog gal pals, Impulsive Addict & Seriously Shawn…. no rules- just chit chat!
ia and serious

The entire time that I am pregnant, I am reminded about how much weight I have gained.  The Dr.’s are just looking out for my health throughout but there is nothing sweeter than the day you go in after your delivery to be put on the scale again and see that you have lost weight!  FINALLY!!!!
Getting rid of my pregnancy weight is on my list of things to do before returning back to work…. among many other things to do.

Starting yesterday, Erik and I decided we would embark on our weight loss plan together.  As a couple, we have tried to diet and lack major success because we are doing it alone.  It sure is hard to be serious when your spouse is eating Oreo’s and ice cream in front of you while you are eating air.  Before I got pregnant, we decided we would do a lifestyle change together to eat better and we were successful!!  Then…. I got pregnant and that went out the window.  So, we’re back and ready to tackle this together again!

While in weight limbo…. I’ve decided I hate all of the clothes that I own.  I have no idea what I was thinking when I bought half of the things hanging in my closet.  I have no idea why I am holding on to the items that I do have…. other than I hate for my tshirts to be the only things hanging in my closet.  I have had some of these things for so long that I guess I was hoping they’d come back in style?  I’ve also noticed that a lot of my shirts have shrunk…. I don’t mean that they are too small, I mean they are too short!  I guess maternity shirts that are long warp your mind when you go back to regular clothes.  Here are a few things I grabbed to show you:

boring shirtI bought this shirt at Banana Republic and I have no idea if it was just a great deal or what but I hate it…. this is also one of those shirts that feels too short.

checkersBack when I was in highschool/college I worked for the Limited and bought this sweater thinking it was the coolest thing ever and I think I wore it once.  Another one that I think is TOO short.

stripesAnother Limited purchase.  This is a see-thru button down that you could wear a cami under but I’ve never found a cami and never worn it.  For some reason button down shirts make me feel like I look stupid.

red pants Holy hell… what in the world was I thinking when I got these pants?!  I have NEVER worn these and do not foresee a day when I will.  I just have to hope I was temporarily insane when I bought these… or when I wasted my money on these.

So… ya see.. these are just a few things in my closet and when I get in shape and feel my best, these are not the items I want to whip out and put on.  Sad thing is that I’m one of those who goes shopping and comes home empty handed because I just can’t find anything I like—I firmly believe that all retail places have hidden the cute stuff when they know I’m coming.  I need a new style!  Where do you shop?  What’s your style? I need help!!

Yep, you definitely need a wardrobe makeover when you lose the weight! If I had all the money in the world I'd shop at Free People and Anthropologie. I LOVE their clothes. But I don't have the $$, so I try to find similar pieces at Kohl's or Target or Forever 21. That's where nearly all my clothes come from.

First thing you need to decide is what styles you like best. If you blinding start shopping you're going to come home with a hodge podge of clothes that you won't be able to wear together. So figure out what styles you're drawn to most and try to only come home with pieces like that that will coordinate together. It just makes it easier!!

Sarah Kate makes a great point!

I liked Target for a long time but here lately their plus size section has been lacking.
Find out what you feel best and look the best in an go from there.

Oh I saw you this morning, you look great!

I have no style. I have work clothes from Old Navy, a few tshirts, and pajamas. I don't own anything fancy. I have jeans and socks. I often look at my wardrobe and wonder what I was thinking. Or I look back at pics when I was a kid and wonder what was going on.

I shop at resale shops. A very nice one that always has good deal on great clothes.

Let me give you Vivienne's (from the V-Spot) address you can send you her clothes and she can transform them all into fall decorations fro you!

I've gone through my closet before and wondered what the hell I was thinking when I bought them, maybe I was heavily medicated at the time. I have also dropped the same articles of clothing off at the local Good Will and left with my head hung in shame

Thanks for linking up my friend, you know we love you, red pants and all!

This is soooo funny!!! Girl, you should have seen what I pulled out of my closet recently. It was way worse but I'm lovin' those sexy red pants! LMAO! You know, red and purple jeans are the new trend for fall. I won't be participating but you totally could! ;)

I shop at Kohls a lot. I always seem to have a 30% off coupon and I like most of their clothes. My other favorite is Maurices. I LOOOOVE that store but I spent way too much in there on Friday!

Thank you for linking up with us, Love! You're the best! xoxo

Short shirts are the worst!

What were you even thinking with that sweater thing and those pants?!

And I feel the same way in button downs, I feel like a tard. The only way I can pull it off is if they're plaid.

I find looks l like on Pinterest and try to copy the outfits. Are you on pinterest? I can't remember.

I have cute stuff from New York and Co, Lands End, Old Navy and Jc Penney. I need to check out Kohls...because I"ve seen some cute stuff in the ads.

I hate shirts that are too short!! I have no style so I'm really no help on giving you some tips here. I shop at JcPenny for 99% of my clothes. I just like the way they fit and they seem stylish to me. Now saying that I usually end up with just plain 3/4 sleeve shirts or some dressy shirt to wear with jeans to work. I think I need a makeover too! And to keep losing weight!!

Good luck to y'all! I know how bad it sucks to be on a diet when your spous isn't. I told Adam that we weren't all born with perfect bodies like him and can eat ice cream every night LOL.

I'm a t-shirt and jeans kind a gal. Target is always good. I like Downeast. Their t-shirts are always long enough. Their cute tops are made to be worn with their cami's. It's a great shop! If you like them on FB, there are usually 10% deals and stuff going on.

I have to say I think your red pant are lovely. Maybe you should rethink them. Possibly if you paired it with your green button down shirt for Christmas. OK, I know I'm only amusing myself.

I usually shop at Ross or Target because they're a few minutes away. No real style. I just like to be comfortable. And it usually takes me a whole year to lose my pregnancy weight.

I soooo totally agree that shirts seem to shrink in their length!! Sooooo frustrating!! My favorite places to shop are Buckle, Forever 21, Marshalls, and TJ Maxx. You can find some fabulous stuff at TJ Maxx!!! Honestly, most of my shirts are hand me downs from my sister. She buys things and gets tired of them very quickly. Magically they appear in a Fed Ex box at my door. :) Yeah, I know I'm a brat. I don't ask though, she just gives...

SO, when you lose some of your weight, I will pass some things on to you and spread the wealth. :) It does make you feel better to have pretty new things that are your style. I'm ALL for splurging on a pair of Miss Me jeans and some boots that fit just right. There's something about that combination that makes all seem right with the world.

Great job on the lifestyle changes, and I think it's so nice that your husband is doing it too. That's the only thing that's helped me, is eating healthy with my hubs. That and portion control. I still have to make sure I don't eat as much as he does (it's hard not to sometimes!)

Haha, ohhh man please save that sweater for an ugly sweater party. As for button ups, I always feel like I'm trying to dress up for a job interview when I wear them! I just feel awkward.

This made me laugh hysterically! I love Anthropologie! That is how I dress most of the time. It is kind of pricey so I either shop their sales or try to copy their looks!

Those shirts do look short - and I think it must be a post -preggo thing to want all of your shirts to be long?? I am log-waisted anyway, so they need to be extra long on me!

And you are a brave soul busting out a pair of red pants!! OH my!!

I agree that they do look short. I don't think I'd like to wear them either.

I'm not really too big on shopping. I usually can't find anything that I like and the music usually stinks in the stores.

Best wishes on your weight loss!
