Recapping Rayne

I wanted to make a post about Rayne’s delivery, so sit tight and hopefully you’ll enjoy!

On Tuesday, Sept 13th, I went in for my regularly scheduled NST (non stress test) and to meet with my Dr. My Dr. also included an ultrasound to check my fluid levels.  You may remember that in one week my levels went from a 12 to an 8 which was concerning to them so they were keeping an eye on it.  My NST was great, she was moving and accelerating in her heart beat, so next step was the ultrasound.  Cheryl was the sonographer doing the measurements and she was very clear that she was not getting a very good reading.  My levels were a high 5, at best a 6.  She told me we were likely to be having a baby today.  My Dr. got the results and sent me to the hospital, hence my quick status to let ya’ll know I was on my way!

Turns out that we did not end up having a baby on the 13th, which I’m kind of glad.. there is something weird to me about that day, so we waited for my Dr. on the 14th to come and let us know when we would be rolling into the operating room.  I had thought maybe we would start in the morning, but then they told me it would be about 5 or 5:30pm and then it got changed again to be closer to 8pm.  My nerves were going nuts!! I was feeling sick to my stomach with anxiety.  I know C-sections are performed all the time but I’m just a nervous nellie and worry that something will go wrong.

Turns out, everything went GREAT.  I’m including some pictures (at least one of these has some blood, so scroll fast if you are squeemish)

Marcy was my nurse to start with…. she was actually the same nurse that I had when Reese was born, so it was a comfort to see her again!IMG_0205Sadly, Marcy had to go but she left me with her next best nurse, Sue who took very good care of me until C time! IMG_0209

Dr. Halderman was hard at work to help bring our beautiful baby girl into this world with the assistance of Jeanean Carter, midwife!IMG_0224 IMG_0227 IMG_0231  This was the first time of the 3 births where I was sent into recovery minus a baby.  Rayne was taken to NICU to be observed closely for her breathing.  She was 3 weeks early and they just like to take extra precautions.  Rayne had liquid in her lungs and her lung capacity wasn’t quite up to snuff.  I fell asleep that night without seeing my baby.  It was sad and although it could have been worse, it still felt scary.  The next morning they told me that I could go see her in the NICU once I could get up on both feet and nothing inspired me more to get up and walk than going to see my daughter!! IMG_0266

Rayne was in the NICU for 2 nights and they let her go on Friday evening just in time for family and friends to come and meet her.  This is where she hung out with special care from the nurses.IMG_0247

Everyone got to hold and love on Rayne, especially her newest fan.. Mackie!IMG_0367

Rayne is now 2 weeks old!!  Where has the time gone!?!? I am already digging my heals in the ground to try to slow this down!  She is a total sweetheart that sleeps most of the time.  Her days and nights are a tad mixed up which might be a partial reason for my delay in returning to the blog world.  I look forward to sharing many more updates in the coming days!

Rayne’s 2 week stats
Hair: fuzzy brown
Eye color: deep blue
Weight: 7lbs 5 oz (18%)
Length: 20in (35%)
Head Cir: 13 1/2 (11%)
Cute as a bug and growing like a weed already!!

I love her! She is so adorable : ) And your dog is so sweet... I'd let stewart hold my babies, but they would turn into puppies themselves from the hair he sheds! Can't wait to see her pictures with my headband : )

Can't wait to see lots more pics and updates!!

What a great family pic!!! She is perfect in every way as are all your kiddos. I agree that they grow so fast you want to dig your heels in to slow it down a tad. Sniff sniff....

I'm just impressed that you are already blogging again. You go girl!!! Thanks for sharing your story and beautiful pictures with all of us.

Oh my goodness--I love reading other peoples' c-section stories. (Makes me feel like I'm not alone.) I had to get an emergency c-section and I hated that my labor took a turn in that direction! My story was a little opposite son was three weeks LATE! But the worst part was not being able to see him and hold him right away. It made me sad and angry...but at least I only had to wait 2 hours!

Anyway--from what I can see in the pictures, your new little girl is absolutely gorgeous. I love the picture with the dog--so sweet!
