How do you remember?

Stepping into 36 weeks of my pregnancy with Rayne and I was trying to think what the best way would be to remember…. When I was pregnant with Reese, I found people online were doing ‘belly art’ and I thought it was so cool… so, I talked Erik into painting on my stomach and taking some pictures.  You can see that post HERE.  Below is a picture from that post…..

I thought it was so neat to have Ryan dip his hands in paint and put his hands on the sides of my belly as the expecting Big Brother.

So, I began wondering how can I do something along these lines and yet be a tad different?  While registering with my gal pal Kristi, we saw at Baby’s R Us these casts you can make of your stomach.  At first, I thought- no way would I do that!  The more I thought about it…. I actually started to think it was a pretty neat way to see what it was like when you had a big ole belly.

I talked Erik into yet another project, bless his heart—he’s being pulled into so many of my projects.  He agreed and we got to work!  Here’s what we got….. I’m still trying to decide what to do with it.  Erik asked that I please put it somewhere hidden because every time he walked in the room he felt like there was a person standing there and it scared him! ha!

Do I paint it?  Maybe do hand prints of Ryan and Reese on the outside and once Rayne is born do her footprint on the inside?  Hope this doesn’t creep people out, but I thought it was a really fun way to capture this memory.

I also got a few blocks and had Ryan’s help to be the big brother in these belly shot pictures too.  Reese was already in bed asleep or I would have had her in these as well.   I should have picked the other side of my stomach to take pictures of as you can see my gallbladder scars (ick) and a bruise from my Lovenox injections on this side… oh well…. its for the memory!

Belly casts ROCK!!! I have a blogger friend who paints them for mommies. Definitely put her little foot prints on the inside and big brother/sister handprints on the outside. It will be something you will treasure always and forever.

Ryan is so stinkin' cute! What a proud big brother. He has his work cut out for him with his sisters get bigger...

So awesome. I would definitely have the hand prints and then put her foot prints on there. Or even her hand prints. That would be soooo cute.

You know what my first instinct with the cast was? Erik should put his handprints on the breasts! ;o) That is exactly what my husband would have done! LOL. But we are pretty immature people. ;o) Whatever you decide to do with it, I think it was an awesome idea! I'm curious how you got out of the cast though after it set??

All such great ideas! I bet Erik even had fun doing the belly cast- after all it wasn't just your belly ;). I like the hand print/foot print idea for the cast. Maybe even google to see what others did- and if you wouldnt mind-email me the belly/block shots- I could do some cool touch ups for you

Such a great idea!!! I love the painted belly, the cast, and the blocks!! Having Rayne's footprints on the inside would be very cute!!

I think we definately need the story on how you did this mold thing. Where you walking around naked for a while with this cast thing? LOL. I agree with Sarah Kate ... Adam would definately be putting hand prints on the boobies if I were to do this!

Very sweet! I never did anything fun like that! It's funny that that your husband had you hide the belly cast.

Oh my gosh! I love it! I wish I had done more to celebrate my baby bump. I celebrated the baby like crazy but not so much for the tummy.

I love the idea of Ryan and Reese handprints and then Rayne's little feet! That would be super cute.
I've seen belly casts that have been bronzed too!

Ryan is the cutest most excited big brother I've ever seen. Love the pics!
