Life in Rewind

Okay, I am going to try to get my blog up to speed here so that tomorrow can be a fresh day of our We Want To Know Link Party and not be worried I left something out~

To wrap up on Reese’s Birthday party:

We invited about 65 people (kids and adults) to join in the festivities,…. yes I am crazy.  We had a turn out of 46 people and it was AWESOME!! Thursday and Friday we got things set up and some how we were busy up until 15 minutes before the first guests arrived.  I can’t even pin point what took so long but it was all worth it.  My only regret was that I wish I had just called every person on the invite list to find out if they were coming or not so I could have saved some $$ on favors and food, but again, it was all worth it!!Birthday Fav's **I got my invitations from Shutterbug Sentiments off Etsy and she did a great job.
**I got my cakes from my favorite cake lady here in Allen, Texas at
Hands on Design Cakes.  She made 2 flip flop cakes and a smash cake with hibiscus flowers to tie the invite and theme into a yummy dessert!
**I got my favor bags from
Oriental Trading company and favors from Party City.  I also got mini beach balls and mini flip flop blow ups from OTC.
Luckily its summertime and just about everywhere you turn, there are summer items on sale….. so Hobby Lobby, Party City and Target all came in handy to help support the flip flop fun decorations!
Here is a slide show of pictures compiled from my camera, my dear friend Emily Stanfield & Grandpa Johanson!

Reese got some amazing gifts and we are so thankful for all who could come join in the fun!! Thank you SOOO much from all of us!!

Next up was Father’s Day!! It was a jam packed weekend!!

We met our parents for breakfast Sunday morning and I have no pictures to show for it… arriving somewhat on time was success in itself.MyDadisSupermanredOn Father’s Day we celebrated Erik (hubs), Erik’s Dad, Craig, also known as Grandpa, My Dad Don and my other Dad, Stephen also known as PAP.   Happy Father’s day to ALL!!  We came home to enjoy the water slide and bounce house we still had from Reese’s party the day before and added a lil’ more sun to our already burned bodies.  It was fun.. Good thing it was just us though b/c Erik and I both flattened out the water slide with our weight.. .clearly not made for adults.
Erik and kids Erik is such a good Daddy!! I love watching him play with the kids and turn into a kid himself!! So sweet!!!

This Father’s Day note leads me into my Tribute Tuesday
(yes this is a LONG POST!!)…

Tribute to my Pap!!  I met Pap (Stephen) when I was about 3years old.  I honestly can’t remember my life without him.   We have been through so much, as most kids and their Dad’s have and 30 years later, we have so many memories and are closer than ever before!! I think in a previous post, I listed my top 5 best friends and Pap has always surfaced at the top of that list!! I don’t think there will ever be enough words in the world to ever express how much he means to me other than to show him each and every day!!

I found a sweet poem that was written by an unknown author, so for all intents and purposes, lets say I wrote it… hah..

A Dad is a person
who is loving and kind,
And often he knows
what you have on your mind.
He's someone who listens,
suggests, and defends.
A dad can be one
of your very best friends!
He's proud of your triumphs,
but when things go wrong,
A dad can be patient
and helpful and strong
In all that you do,
a dad's love plays a part.
There's always a place for him
deep in your heart.
And each year that passes,
you're even more glad,
More grateful and proud
just to call him your dad!
Thank you, Dad...
for listening and caring,
for giving and sharing,
but, especially, for just being you!

Since I have come to love making the blocks and personalizing them, I made some for him!  I chose 8 pictures (4 for each side) and a saying from 2 of the songs that we have had between us since I was a young lil’ tapper as he calls me.  ‘Yellow Brick Road’ is a song by Elton John.IMG_9575  IMG_9577
The other side of pictures and a new saying from the song ‘I love you a bushel and a peck’ by Doris Day and you can see the top view here of our nicknames for each other…
He’s Pap and I’m Pup!

I just choked on my lunch when you said you had invited 65 people to your party, and you had, what was it 48. Oh My Gosh.

Did any of them park in front of the Terds house? Hey, it's a valid question. :)

LMBO Dazee you took the question out of my mouth.. I hope they did a TON of them lol..

Yeah I would have been pulling hair out with that many guests seriously.
Your kids are adorable and I love the picture frame/blocks you made for your pap.
