My Collection

I remember when I was little that I always wanted to have my own collection of something that I could keep adding to and I have changed collections so many times over the years and I think I finally found one, okay maybe 2 that have stuck.

My first collection, albeit weird, was to collect stationary.  I had a plastic sleeve and I’d ask for stationary all of the time for birthday or Christmas gifts because I loved writing letters and getting mail (still do, hint hint) and I would take 1pc of paper and envelope out and put it in my plastic sleeve to keep.  Over time I am sure I had quite a few and I would look back at them and think… these are so not cute or ask myself why I liked it enough to keep it.  That collection might have even been thrown away.

Then became a huge fan of glass art.  I am not sure where this came from but thought some day I’d own a home and have a gallery to display all of my fancy glass art.. To date, i only own 2 true pieces of glass art because that is NOT a cheap collection to have.  I started finding fun glass stuff at Hobby Lobby and home stores and felt like I was cheating, so rather than collect a bunch of junk, I figured I’d set this one aside as well.  Something funky, like these below would probably have been the types of pieces I would have had in that dream gallery… who has a gallery in their house anyway!?

Then I think I graduated in life or found things that were more important to me and certainly more realistic for collecting.

I think I have mentioned before my love for Hallmark stores!  My love runs deep.  I always said that I should just go work there because I can’t imagine why anyone would be unhappy there.  You go there to find the perfect gift, card or ornament to bring a smile to someone you care about!  Doesn’t get much better than that!! The only time I did not feel the love was when I was about 5 or 6 months pregnant with Reese and the happy-go-lucky lady ringing me up asked me if I was due any minute… She burst my happy bubble and I waddled away.

So, I am a proud Hallmark Gold Crown Card holder… I might even be in the highest category of card holders (I like to believe this, so go with it…) and I love cards, I love buying cards, getting cards, sending cards, etc.  I have over time collected random cards and more importantly I’ve started to collect their ornaments.  I LOVE them and have started a collection for Ryan and Reese without their input to give them when they leave the nest and start a family of their own.

And Finally, my other very favorite collection that has really STUCK is my love for Willow Tree Figures.  To me, I feel they are very personal and meaningful.  They embody family, friendship and love.. They make me happy!! My collection is small compared to others, but I have plenty of time to collect and even have my own shelves put up by my hubs to display them!!  This is not my collection, but you can see there are a bunch.. Maybe I need a Willow Tree Gallery?

Have you run through a few collections to find your own?  What do you collect?

How interesting!!

Funny enough, I use to collect small cards. -- Not normal sized cards but small blank cards.
I am a big fan of writing, as well. Snail mail is a great thing! :)

Did you ever collect stickers when you were little? Too funny. For awhile I was collecting Paris stuff, but nothing now! I am out of room in this house!!

I have my collection wallpapering my garage. I just started collecting 2 years ago so I don't have THAT many.....but I have all my race bibs (race numbers for triathlons/1 marathon/half-marathons and some 5 ks)! I copy my races results on the back of the bib and I also have a few medals hanging up! It gives me a sense of accomplishment, adds some character to an otherwise boring wall and doesn't take up any space!!! What's not to love!?

I LOVE Hallmark stores, too! I haven't been into one in ages because I am afraid the boys will break something. It immediately calms me to walk in the door for some reason.
