Happy BIRTH day Reese!

We welcomed into our lives a beautiful and precious baby girl on
Friday, June 18, 2010!

It all happened so fast!! We arrived at the hospital at about 5:30am to get prepped for a C-section that was scheduled to start at 7am. I never thought they'd actually start on time, so it wasn't on my mind while we laid there in the hospital.... until, this young guy who all the nurses describe as looking like Shaggy from Scooby Doo came walking in around 6:45am to introduce himself as my anesthesiologist. The look on my face must have told him I was shocked to see him b/c he said that I had a look of doubt on my face. It was only because he looked like he was my age or younger. He was very nice and very good and told me that things were about to get started. I didn't know what to think b/c I had been relaxing this whole time and didn't realize they meant business at 7am!
Next thing I know, my Dr walks in to say hello, and a wheelchair came right after to wheel me into the surgery room. I had tears welling up because I thought it was happening too fast! I guess I was used to the prolonged delivery when I had Ryan. The epidural went well and 19 minutes later Reese was born with a great set of lungs and Erik and I were so proud.

My stay in the hospital was a lot nicer this time.. I didn't have to wear tight leggings with cuffs the entire time and my IV was out by the morning after. All I had to do was enjoy my baby girl and wait for our release.

Reese lost 8% total before we left the hospital in birth weight, but her last night there she gained 2% back so it was looking good! On her 2 day check up at the dr's her weight was remaining steady and she was in the 45th percentile! Just perfect!

We have been home just shy of her 1 week birthday and she has been so sweet. I didn't know what to expect this time around and I guess its true what they say, it is easier the second time. Ryan adores her and talks about her all the time. He is still transitioning and understanding but has been wonderful. He's going to make an amazing big brother!

Erik and I feel so lucky and blessed to have such an amazing son and are so proud to add our gorgeous and sweet daughter to our lives!
Here are a few shots... with more to come.
